Entryway Key Hook

If you spend much time on Pinterest or home decorating blogs, you probably know the idea of an Ikea Hack... where someone takes a relatively plain, inexpensive item from Ikea and makes a few changes to make it look great.  Well, this one is similar- a Target hack.

A New Gallery Wall- The Easy Way

Happy Labor Day Weekend!  I hope you have some fun things in store for the next couple days!  I'm happy for the extra time at home, but to be honest, I'm not thrilled that we are getting to the end of summer.  I like fall, but it means that the dreaded season of winter is coming... anyway, on to happier, non-snow related thoughts.

I wanted to share a project with you that I just finished- a new gallery wall for our entryway.

A Quick Fix to a Boring Problem

Today's post is an up-cycle that I am very excited about, probably because I just did it this morning!  Which is why I'm spilling the beans up front:

To DIY or Leave it to the Pros??

Happy Sunday!

I have no exciting project reveals today, but I am feeling the need to write the almost obligatory post for a DIY blog: knowing your limitations.  We spent the morning yesterday finishing the demolition of our deck, and found a few frustrations along the way which brought out something important to me.

But first, let's talk about something great: progress!  We are completely without a deck on half of our house, and I couldn't be more thrilled!  Next comes pouring the concrete footers.

It's a bit messy, but look, no deck!

And on to the rest of the post...

The Picnic Table and a Deadline

Hey There!

So, it's been a few weeks since the last post... we needed a break from the routine and electronic devices, and so we spent 10 days here:

Rocky Mountain National Park

Just before we left, I finished up a project for a friend, let's call her M.  M had asked me a few weeks ago if I would refinish her picnic table that was in need of some love, and I was happy to do it.  M says she likes the weathered look, and brown is perfectly fine with her.  Since she was on vacation just before we were leaving, I decided it would be great if I had it waiting for her when she got back- note, this was totally self-imposed.  I had two weeks to get it done- no big deal, right?
